Rohit Sharma returns: Fans question BCCI selectors for omitting MI skipper from India squad

3 weeks ago 11

Indian cricket fans breathed a sigh of relief as Rohit Sharma returned to lead Mumbai Indians in their final league game of IPL 2020 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, putting an end to all speculations regarding his fitness.

However, Rohit Sharma did not have an impressive return to the MI squad as he departed after scoring only 4 runs as he flicked one from Sandeep Sharma to David Warner for just 4. Notably, Rohit was left out of India's ODI, T20I, or Test squads for the upcoming tour of Australia due to a hamstring injury and he missed the last four matches for Mumbai Indians as well.

With Rohit Sharma saying he is fit and fine after his omission from the India squads, the fans took to social media to express their surprise over the same.

Not only that, but they have also targeted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), saying that all is not well and the selectors are biased in Rohit Sharma’s omission. Some went even as far as calling Kohli selfish while saying that the rift is the reason behind Rohit’s omission.

Rohit walked out for the toss, which he lost to David Warner, who opted to bowl against MI in Sharjah. Rohit will be replacing all-rounder Jayant Yadav in the MI playing XI.

"Throughout the tournament, there has been a lot of talk about the toss, and we need to take toss out of contention and play good cricket. Looks like I'm fit and fine. We are resting some key bowlers - Bumrah and Boult will rest, Pattinson and Dhawal Kulkarni will replace them. I am coming in the place of Jayant Yadav.

Just a few minutes before Rohit's comeback, BCCI president Ganguly spoke about the Hitman's chances of joining the Indian team in Australia for the white-ball and Test series, saying that he was keeping his fingers crossed for his return.
