Suryakumar Yadav has been is red-hot form throughout the ongoing IPL 2020 season. He has been "batting like a dream" as Ian Bishop said while commentating during the batting innings of Mumbai Indians in the ongoing match against Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier 1 of the 13th edition of the world's best league. The swashbuckling batsman laid a strong foundation after the early departure of MI captain Rohit Sharma and smashed 51 off 38 balls before departing in the 12th over.
Mumbai Indians' number three is one of the eight batsmen to have scored over 450 runs in the ongoing season. He has 4 fifties and an impressive average of almost 42.00 to his name in the IPL 2020. The 30-year-old Mumbai batsman has been giving statements after statements with each of his stellar innings. His unbeaten 79-run knock against RCB will be remebered for ages now. The gutsy batsman, in the match looked straight into the eyes of 'King' Virat Kohli and took his team over the winning line before his now famous 'Main Hu Na' celebration. The blazing innings had come just days after being ignored by the Team India selectors again. Notably, Suryakumar Yadav was not included in squad for any format in the upcoming tour of Australia.
On Thursday, being snubbed by selectors lead to the achievement of a very unique record by Suryakumar Yadav. After taking the field at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Suryakumar became the first batsman to play in 100 IPL matches and score over 2,000 runs without making an international debut.
Cricket fraternity wants Suryakumar Yadav to play for India
Surayakumar Yadav is someone whose non-selection in the Indian squad has always been questioned. Harbhajan Singh has taken shots at selectors on many occasion. Recently, former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris on a lighter note had asked the batsman to move to New Zealand and play for the Black Caps. Mumbai Indians vice-captain Kieron Pollard during a recent post-match presentation ceremony had said that not donning the blue jersey for India till date must be hurting Suryakumar Yadav very deeply. Also, India coach Ravi Shastri after Suryakumar Yadav's scintilating knock versus RCB asked him to "stay strong and patient".
