Rajasthan Royals batsman Ben Stokes has been in incredible form in the last couple of games and has led his team to victory in their previous two matches.

The way Stokes has been batting of late, it requires the opposition to do something special to dismiss him. That’s what the Kolkata Knight Riders wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik did on Sunday in a must-win encounter.

Karthik took a diving one-handed stunner to dismiss the Englishman, and give his team a major boost in Sunday’s do-or-die clash.

On the first ball of the third over bowled by pacer Pat Cummins, Stokes wanted to play a big shot but could only manage an edge behind the stumps. The ball still looked to be going past the wicket-keeper until Dinesh Karthik dived full-length to his left and took a one-handed stunner. Ben Stokes could hardly believe it himself. He was out for 18 runs off 10 balls and the Rajasthan Royals batting line-up crumbled after that.

Dinesh Karthik earlier had been dismissed for a golden duck. But that did not matter after the stunning catch, with many on social media declaring it to be the best catch of IPL 2020.

Former India pacer Irfan Pathan took to Twitter to hail the catch. “We’ve seen birds on the cricket ground only in Australia... there’s one that flew in the UAE just now ... what a catch @DineshKarthik,” Pathan said.
