Chennia Super Kings (CSK) opener Ruturaj Gaikwad is a household name after his 3 consecutive and match-winning fifties in the last three league matches of team in IPL 2020. He was in news even before the start of IPL but not for reasons he would have wanted to. There was a good hype around him when CSK left for UAE for the 13th edition of IPL but unluckily, the 23-year-old Maharashtra batsman contracted novel coronavirus in the first week of his arrival in the Gulf nation.

The youngsters recovery time from the 12 others in CSK camp, who got tested positive for Covid-19, was longer. It took him almost 20 days to come out of isolation and join his teammates in training sessions. He got a chance to play in the 2nd league match of CSK but was dropped one match later as he registred scores of 0 and 5 in his first 2 innings.

Gaikwad had to wait for long before getting a game against Mumbai Indians in the 11th league match of his team but badluck followed and he bagged another duck. It might have felt like end of roads for him but MS Dhoni gave him another chance to try his luck and this time he grabbed the opportunity with both the hands. He smashed 65*, 72 and then 62* and announced his arrival in world's biggest ever T20 league.

By the end of the IPL 2020 season, the opener had 204 runs to his name at an average of 51.00. His small journey of 6 matches was literally a roller coaster ride.

Gaikwad, who is someone who "speaks very less" according to MS Dhoni, has posted 2 pictures with his CSK captain and revealed about two important moments in his short career. In the first picture MS Dhoni can be seen giving an autograph on the plasters of an injured Ruturah Gaikwad, while in the next picture the rookie is punching gloves with the former India captain.

Gaikwad, went on to reveal that MS Dhoni, who was Jharkhand's mentor during his debut Ranji Trophy match for Maharashtra against the side in 2016, came and enquired about his broken finger during the match. Gaikwad had come to bat at the number three position and scored 15 in the first innings but did not bat in the 2nd innings due to the injury.

The Pune-born then took his fans straight to 2020 and shared another anecdote. This time Gaikwad mentioned the incident when Dhoni came to him and "talked about life" to motivate him after his string of low scores in the IPL 2020.

At the end of his post Ruturaj Gaikwad said batting and sharing with MS Dhoni has been "more than a dream".
