IPL 2020: RCB's attitude outstanding, heading in right direction - Virat Kohli in dressing room speech

Virat Kohli addressed his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammates in their customary post-match dressing room routine, thanking the support staff and the fellow players for helping create good memories at IPL 2020 in the UAE. Kohli conceded that it was not easy being in the bio bubble for more than 8 weeks but the camaraderie between players helped create 'the best' dressing room environment.

Virat Kohli said there were a lot of positives that have emerged from RCB's campaign at IPL 2020 and said the former finalists can certainly look forward to better things in the future. Kohli conceded that the fans wanted RCB to go further than Eliminator but they fell off after a good start.

Virat Kohli had said even before the campaign that the current squad is one of their better-balanced sides in the past and RCB ticked the boxes right in the first half of the tournament. With 7 wins from 10 matches, Kohli's men were in line to not just enter the play-offs but finish inside the top 2.

However, their form tapered off and RCB crashed out of IPL 2020 with five losses on the bounce. The well-oiled unit looked in disarray as the batting failed even as their bowlers continued to impress in the UAE.

"We spoke of creating memories as a team and we have done that this season. When we said this is probably the best environment we played in at RCB, damn right about it. It's been amazing," Virat Kohli said in a video shared by RCB.

"I thinkt the camaraderie pushed deep and far into the tournament. Even during the losses, we never gave up, which I think is the most important thing. That is something we haven't done in the last 3 seasons. There is a positive already for me there that we are heading in the right direction.

"I want to thank the support staff, the coaches especially because we have created a brilliant structure. The hard work and their planning and the detail has been outstanding and we have thoroughly benefited from it.

"I know it's been tough, staying away from families, staying in a bubble. We haven't had much to do. Just each other's company, we have cherished that.

"The attitude has been outstanding. We can be really proud of it. Next year might be different. We might have a few more allowances, you never know. Still, if we keep looking forward to coming back together as a group, we will have one hell of a tournament next year as well.

"We can be really proud of what we have done after the last few seasons. Just hold that close to your heart and keep building from hereon as a team."

There are positives from RCB's campaign: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli said the performances of Devdutt Padikkal and Mohamed Siraj were big positives from RCB's IPL 2020 campaign and there is only one way and that is upwards from hereon for the Bangalore-based side.

Young opener Devdutt scored 473 runs to top the RCB batting chats in IPL 2020 while Siraj came back well, picking up early wickets with the new ball for the side.

"We played some good consistent cricket and fell off at the backend. Would have loved to go even further and I know the fans really wanted us to go further. But some positives in the season, guys like Devdutt stepping up, having a great season with the bat. Siraj came back after a tough season last year.

"Yeah, there are positives, something that we can definitely take forward."
