Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain KL Rahul is taking a leaf out of Royal Challengers Bangalore's 2016 season to motivate his team which is currently at the the bottom of the 8-team IPL 2020 points table. Notably, the Punjab captain was himself the part of RCB's 2016 set-up which bounced back roaring after losing 5 of their starting 7 matches. Virat Kohli's team had ended up playing the final in that edition. However, the team lost by 8 runs to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.

Situation for KXIP is no different this year. Under the leadership of their newly-appointed captain KL Rahul, the team has lost 6 of their starting 7 matches of the IPL 2020 season. KL Rahul while in conversation with RCB captain Virat Kohli on Puma India's official Instagram handle revealed that he keeps on talking about RCB's 2016 perfromance to motivate his team.

"Anything can happen, I always keep telling the team about the 2016 season with RCB, we were in a similiar position, we had to win all games, so weird and funny things have happened in the game. You just need to keep believing in that and keep telling your players that things can turn around quickly. More or less, you put it out in the meeting and you look around, it's the same team that was there in 2016. They know what to do to make a comeback, hopefully, we can repeat the same thing here." KL Rahul said.

The 28-year-old said captaining for the first time on a big stage has been like a roller coaster ride for him. KL Rahul also summed up his lesson from the first 7 games and stated that winning and losing is part of the game but constantly enjoying in the middle was the most important thing.

"What I have learnt in the first 7 games is that winning and losing is part of the game but it's important to make sure everybody is still having fun and everybody what they are doing right. It's been a good learning for me. It's been quite a roller coaster so far. I am just taking it as it comes and trying to help the boys stay in a positive frame of mind," KL Rahul added.

Third-placed RCB will face KXIP in match 31 of IPL 2020 on Thursday.
