Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ended their below par IPL 2020 season on a high after beating Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 9 wickets and registering their 3rd win on the trot. The last three matches also saw their young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring 3 vital fifties. He smashed unbeaten 65 versus Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before following it with a scintilating 72 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Finally, on Sunday's match against KXIP, Gaikwad finished with unbeaten 62 in the run-chase.

Team's senior batsman and former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis is highly impressed with the 23-year-old youngster from Maharastra and during the post-match presentation ceremony he has compared him with India and RCB captain Virat Kohli. What has impressed du Plessis the most is Gaikwad's composure under pressure situation.

"He (Gaikwad) looks like a young Virat Kohli doesn't he. What stands out for me the most is is his composure. Pressure situations don't really get to him. That is always pleasing to see in a young guy and looks like he has a bright future," Faf du Plessis said after the win.

Notably, the match 53 of IPL 2020 was the last league match for CSK and KXIP. Three-time champions Chennai were already out of the play-offs race and they deprived KXIP also of an opprtunity to move ahead in the tournament after their crushing win over them.

CSK, often referred to as 'Dad's army' are out in the league stage for the first time in IPL's 13 year history. Many of their players are under the age bracket of 35 to 40 and so a question on their cricketing future is always thrown upon them. Team's captain MS Dhoni, during the toss ahead of the match, cleared the air and said "definitely not" when asked if he would return back in IPL 2021. Faf du Plessis was also asked the same question after the match and he tackled it in style.

The 36-year-old said that he was enjoying the game and believes that he has al least 5 years of cricket in him.

" I am still loving it. I have got a lot of cricket left in me, at least five years," he said.

Chennai Super Kings finished their IPL 2020 campiagn with 6 wins in 15 matches.
